Carrboro film maker's satire a hit on iFilm

iFilm is showing a South Parkesque comics-parody film written, animated, and voice-acted by Alex Wilson of Carrboro, NC:

All's Fair in Love and Police Actions

What if an icon like Marvel's Captain America was to the U.S. government what Mickey Mouse has been to Disney? Here's what a taxpayer-funded Steamboat Willy might've looked like during the Vietnam War in 1971. This isn't the most sophisticated animation you've ever seen (it actually makes South Park look sophisticated) but it's well written and acted by Wilson.

The film garnered more than 3,000 views in the few days since its premiere on iFilm, where it's the most popular short film of the moment.

SF author Cory Doctorow ("Magic Kingdom," and the blog, Boing Boing) calls it "amazingly funny and well-executed." Doctorow is one of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' favorite writers. His Boing Boing blog is among the most popular on the Net.

Thanks guys (for the mention and for letting me know about this site). "All's Fair" today became the Clip of the Day up at IFILM, and even got featured on the front page.

Keep up the great work. I'll be reading.

Alex.
