The Asheville Citizen Times reports:
"The director of “Moon Europa” found everything he needed for his movie in Asheville. He found the cast. He found the crew. He even found, on a walk in the woods, a piece of Styrofoam that not only perfectly suited the spaceship in the sci-fi movie but perfectly illustrated that, for him and other locals in film, everything they need to make movies can be found in Western North Carolina.
That’s the message that organizers of the three-year-old Asheville Film Festival hope to convey to the rest of the world this weekend.
They’re expecting the festival, with its parties and 83 feature, documentary, short, student and animated films, to attract more than the 9,000 people who attended last year. By bringing so many film professionals and fans to the region, the dozens of festival administrators and volunteers are putting a spotlight on WNC’s film industry. What shines above all else these days is its independent film scene.
