Ross McElwee brings a special showing of his most recent film "Bright Leaves" to the Carolina Theatre in Durham Monday night (Aug.1). We understand Ross will be there.
We really can't recommend this film too highly if you're familiar with Ross' work. Even if you're not, it provides a great deal of insight into the Carolina mindset across generations.
Even more, to me, it says a lot about our movie minds, how film itself so shaped much of not just Ross McElwee's life, but ours, as well, illustrated in many ways, overtly and subtly. This is a brilliant film, full of humor that will make you laugh out loud, smile and reflect on the human condition. It's really something of a culmination of all of McElwee's unique work, although I for one, certainly hope there's more of this quality on the way.
