Set in the mythical - and technologically advanced - land of Wakanda, Black Panther, based on the Marvel Comics superhero saga penned by Stan Lee, raises the question: “What if Africa hadn’t been colonized by the Europeans?”

Released in 2018 by Disney, the film stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, heir to a hidden African kingdom, who returns home on his father's death and and becomes the Black Panther to defend his land from his cousin N'Jadaka, played by Michael B. Jordan. The film, the first superhero movie to feature a mostly black cast, opened to excellent reviews and is the one of the highest grossing films of all time.
