Filmed in NC Fund Deadline is Wednesday Feb. 13

The Filmed in NC Fund is accepting applications for its 2019 grant program through Wed., Feb. 13. The fund, which is administrated through the Cucalorus Film Foundation, is a partnership with the NC Film Office, Artless Media and The Magnifying Glass. Indie film and video projects by artists who are permanent residents of North Carolina, or who are full-time students at colleges or universities in North Carolina living full-time in NC, are eligible for these grants

The fund gives grants to support the development and production of new and ongoing projects with total budgets under $250,000. Projects are supported with funds ranging from $500 to $3,000 per project.

Last year 10 projects, ranging from narrative features to short docs, were chosen from 70 submissions. The selected projects included eight from female directors, four from African American filmmakers, and one project from a Hispanic filmmaker. Filmmakers have the opportunity to screen their work at the annual Cucalorus Film Festival held every November in Wilmington.

Both emerging and established artists with a proven record for producing singular and original work, whose projects exhibit potential for meaningful community impact and generating substantial economic activity in North Carolina, are encouraged to apply. Projects at various stages of production, including existing and new projects, are eligible. The program supports narrative, documentary and experimental films and videos and prioritizes funding for female, African American and Latinx filmmakers.

If you have questions about the application, please contact Rachel Taylor, programming director, via email only at programming@cucalorus.org.
